Guitars

It is hard to imagine the music scene without guitars. These instruments have shaped modern popular music and have been used by some of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century. From Jimi Hendrix to The Beatles and from Led Zeppelin to Pixies, guitars have been heard in all corners of music, new and old.

There are various different types of guitars, ranging from acoustic to electric. Acoustic guitars create a different sound to their electrical counterparts and have been used to a different effect by artists such as Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel. Acoustic guitars can also encompass other types such as classical, folk, flamenco, arch top and twelve string.

Electric guitars are associated with rock music and heavy metal bands (along with jazz and blues), with their loud, amplified sounds that form the lead in many bands. Without amplification, electric guitars produce little in the way of sound, but because of their nature they can achieve a number of different sounds through amplification with the use of effects pedals and distortion (by standing close to the amplifiers).

Music is a large part of the world we live in, and guitars help in making this so.
